Biography
Miesje Roelants Taylor
* pronounced meesha *
Miesje has been studying the great artists all her life, and has been
honing her own creative skills since childhood. Working in many
different mediums she has gone from pencil, to pen and ink, watercolor
and now acrylics. Miesje has had some professional instruction, but
prides herself in being mainly self taught. Many of her influences come from artists such as Matisse, Monet and Gauguin.
Miesje Roelants was born in 1960 on Vancouver Island, even as a small
child, Miesje observed the world differently, an uneven childhood could
have ruined the spirit of this artist but, being a direct descendent of
"Her Grace Mary Duchess of Sutherland", gave Miesje the strength to hold
her head high.
Now living in West Vancouver BC, Miesje is married with one son and
two step-daughters, and has traveled the world extensively with her
musician husband Dave Taylor. These travels lead her directly to one of
her childhood dreams where she was able to go to Monet's Garden, in
Giverny, France. She will treasure this emotional moment, as she was
able to literally walk amongst the inspiration for so many of the
paintings she loves.
Miesje is a member of the North Vancouver Arts Council and has paintings
hanging in private collections throughout BC.
